As part of Internet Safety Day 2024, the Albion Foundation visited KS2 classes to promote positive online behaviour:

The school would recommend that parents visit the Thinkuknow website (see link below). This service provides parents with email updates of current E-Safety issues and dangers. This site managed by the CEOP/National Crime Agency.

We support our pupils' use of the internet and seek to underpin their knowledge of safe use and protection. We understand that the internet is a wonderful resource which also poses many dangers. Just as we want to keep children safe in the home, school and community, we also want to keep them safe from harm in the online world. We provide our pupils with an awareness of how to stay safe online both in the school environment and beyond.
In school we follow these simple tips to stay safe. This year we have launched being 'SMART with a Heart' promoting being respectful whilst online.

SECRET – I will always keep my name, address, phone number and password PRIVATE – it’s like giving out the keys to your home if you don’t act smart! |

MEETING someone you have contacted on the internet can be dangerous. I will only do so with a trusted adult’s permission, and then when they can be with me and we’ll meet in a public place. |

A |
ACCEPTING e-mails or opening files from people you don’t really know or trust can be hurtful – they may contain viruses or nasty messages. I will only open files and messages from people I know and trust. |

R |
REMEMBER – someone online may be lying and not be who they say they are. I will stick to the public area in chat rooms and if I feel uncomfortable, I’ll get out of there! I’ll be smart and log off. |

T |
TELL – I’ll tell a trusted adult if someone of something makes me worried of uncomfortable. |
We encourage children to continue to use these tips at home.
