At Moorlands Primary School pupils have the opportunity to be taught by music specialists. Pupils have the chance as a class to learn an instrument and perform in front of parents and other pupils are least yearly.
Years 1 and 2 have a musical specialist who teaches singing and basic percussion skills.
Year 3 are taught whole class trumpets.
Year 4 are taught whole class djembe drumming skills.
Year 5 take part in the Music Share performance at Lichfield Cathedral with other schools in Wednesbury. This year they are also being taught the recorders by Miss Roper, the music lead.
Year 6 are being taught by Miss Roper, the music lead, how to play the keyboard and follow music notation.
Pupils can also take part in 'Rock Steady'. Pupils form small Rock bands and are taught vocals alongside musical skills. Every term, these bands perform for parents and pupils. Pupils from Reception to Year 6 are able to participate in this additional music provision.
Pupils in Key Stage 2 will have the opportunity to sing at the Resort World Arena as part of the 'Young Voices' concert bringing schools together.

Summer term 2019
Year 3 have been learning to play the trumpet and performed for their parents and pupils in Key Stage 2. They also sang songs inspired by the 'Ancient Egyptian' topic.
Year 4 have been learning to play the djembe drumming and performed for parents and pupils in Key Stage 2. The sound was amazing.
Year 5 performed their own version of 'Space Odyssey' inspired by their Science topic on Space.
